Parel Vallei Rugby gratetful after near drowning

On Sunday 2 April 2017, four Parel Vallei High School boys on a rugby tour were rescued from the ocean after getting into trouble near Leentjiesklip in Wilderness. We received this letter from the coaching staff:

On behalf of the Parel Vallei rugby touring team, coaching staff and the parents, we sincerely thank the speedy response to what could have ended in a horrific tragedy on Sunday afternoon 2 April 2017.

Four boys were caught in the riptide just off Leentjiesklip in Wilderness and were in trouble. Within minutes one of the coaches, Thinus Pienaar and two local lifesavers went to their assistance. All four boys managed to reach the beach safely, but exhausted. The NSRI staff attended and stabilized the boys immediately, until the paramedics arrived.

People and some holiday makers were very supportive of the children, praying for full recovery.

In conclusion, we again thank all involved in turning around this day of a possible tragedy into a day of realizing that there are people who care and are compassionate about life. You made a massive difference in the lives of those who witnessed this day.

- Parel Vallei H/S blessings.

We are grateful that the ordeal did not end in tragedy, and we thank everyone involved in the successful rescue - WN ed
