Different weather

A bit of rain does not mean that there is a damper on your holiday fun. Rainy weather is too often referred to as 'bad weather'

Did you know that The Garden Route and surrounds offer you a host of activities on rainy days - we call them 'all weather activities' and often these activities are more fun on wet days. Here are some activities you can enjoy on a rainy day:

For the animal lover there are a number of establishments to visit. Tenikwa Cat Sanctuary in Plettenberg Bay offers you a tour of the cats, including a close encounter with Cheetah, Serval, and African Wild Cat. Tours depart every 30 minutes from 9am.

The Cango Wildlife Ranch in Oudtshoorn is renowned for offering once in a lifetime encounters with rare and endangered animals while incorporating conservation through education. They are open every day of the year, rain or shine.

Acrobranch, situated in Timberlake Village between Wilderness and Sedgefield is the ideal place to get rid of some adrenaline. Here you can test your balancing skills while climbing through the obstacles in the trees, ride the zip lines and swing like Tarzan. The activity is suitable for ages 4 and up. Acrobrach is safe for all weather conditions, and more fun in rainy weather - come find out why.

For the less adventurous, we recommend days like today for sightseeing. Take the Seven Passes Road between George and Knysna, a road built by master road builder Thomas Bain and his brother-in-law, Adam De Swardt.

Stop at Map Of Africa for breathtaking views, take a 20 minute forest walk and have a picnic at Big Tree Hoekwil, and then take the road past Karatara and Rheenendal. Do not miss the turn-off to Knysna via The Phantom Pass. Do not forget your camera on this journey.
