Breakthrough in Plett murder case
Police made an arrest in the murder investigation of a woman from Plettenberg Bay. The victim, 63 year old Penelope Cumming, was found murdered at her home in a luxury estate in Piesang Valley Road, Plettenberg Bay, on Monday 29 January 2018.
On Tuesday 30 January 2018, police arrested a suspect, who has been positively linked to the murder. Forensic evidence obtained from the murder scene, as well as video evidence positively linked the suspect to murder. The suspect is in his mid-twenties.
On Monday police found the naked body of the victim in her home in Schoongezigt Country Estate in Plettenberg Bay. Her burnt out vehicle was later recovered in Nekkies, Knysna.
An autopsy will be conducted on the victim to determine the exact cause of death.
The suspect will appear in court on Thursday 1 February 2018 on a charge of murder.
