Heavy rain expected in Cape Town

Capetonians to prepare for heavy rain and possible localised flooding:

Too often nature changes plans, and weather forecasts end up being far from accurate. We are however optimistically positive that the weather bureau is correct in the prediction for Cape Town and surrounds for the week of 23 to 27 April 2018.

According to the South African Weather service, Capetonians can expect a light drizzle during the day on Monday 23 April, with the floodgates of heaven opening at around 7pm on Monday with a downpour like Cape Town have not had in a long time.

In fact the weatherman is so confident about the severeness of the rain that the Cape Town Disater Management team has been put on full alert, as localised flooding is expected in certain areas.

The rain is expected to clear by Tuesday evening, 24 April, but only for a short while, as a second front is expected to hit Cape Town late on Wednesday 25 April. This front is expected to be at least twice as strong as the first, bringing double or more rain than the first front.

"Buckets of rain" can be expected over Grabouw and surrounds, including the Theewaterskloof Dam catchment area.

According to Storm Report SA, the weather pattern may change and the following statement appeared on their facebook page: "This is still a forecast that could change as models are still inconsistent".

In the mean time we are holding thumbs for much needed rain in the Cape Town area.
