Knysna Councillor facing murder charge

A 58 year old Councillor from Knysna is among four people arrested on 14 August 2018 for the murder of the ANC's chief whip in Knysna, Victor Molosi, who was gunned down outside his house in Concordia on 23 July 2018.

Two people were arrested in Cape Town, and two in Knysna. They will join a fifth suspect, Mandla Tyololo in court on Thursday 16 August 2018. The five accused are expected to apply for bail.

"The integrated task team which comprises members from the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, Eden Cluster Detectives, Knysna Detectives and Eden Cluster Crime Intelligence, was established to investigate this case," Pojie said.

"Their tireless efforts paid dividends when the investigation took them to Cape Town where two suspects, both 37 years old, were arrested" said Capt. Malcolm Pojie, spokesperson for the South African Police.

According to Capt. Pojie, the other two suspects, a 42 year old person and a 58 year old Councillor from ward 8 in Knysna were arrested at their homes.

All five suspects will be charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder as well as Murder.

Members of the ANC Women's League held a march to the Knysna Magistrate's court on to demand that Molosi be denied bail.

The investigation into Molosi's murder continues
