Murder in Sedgefield

One person was arrested in Sedgefield on Saturday 2 February 2019, after a 67 year old female succumbed to injuries as a result of blunt force trauma.

The drama unfolded late on Saturday in Marigold Street Sedgefield.

Unconfirmed reports said that several gunshots were fired before the victim was assaulted. The 50 year old suspect was arrested shortly after at his residence.

According to reports, the incident was not related to a burglary or robbery. Police are still in the process of gathering information from neighbours and witnesses. The investigation is said to be at a sensitive stage.

The name of the victim as well as the suspect (both known to Wild News) may at this stage not be released.

Man in dock after hammer-death of 67-years-old neighbour Sedgefield, Knysna

Minutes after the brutal attack on a 67 year old victim, police arrested a 50 year old man in connection her death.

Preliminary investigation suggest that the victim, who was later identified as Lorna Hampson, was attacked by the suspect who was armed with a hammer at about 8pm on Saturday, 02 February 2019 on the sidewalk in front of her house at 16 Marigold Street, Sedgefield. Members found the body of the deceased on the sidewalk, covered in blood. She had already succumbed to the extent of the injuries sustained and the blow to her head.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on the body to determine the possible cause of death. The motive for this attack is still being investigated.

Two cases of Malicious Damage To Property has also been added to the Murder-case after the suspect allegedly assaulted and damaged the vehicles of members of the public who were first responders to the scene.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Knysna magistrates’ court on 05 February 2019 on counts of Murder and two counts of malicious damage to Property.
