Eden Lions share Cristmas joy

On Sunday 15 December 2019, The Eden Lions hosted a unique Christmas function for the Rondevlei community, bringing the joy of Christmas to a community with very little means.

Members of the Rondevlei community were told that Eden Lions have a surprise outing planned for them, but they did not expect what was waiting for them. Private transport, arranged by Eden Lions, was used to transport approximately 30 men, woman, and children from their dwellings to the venue. The venue, Duck On Deck, situated in Timberlake Village, was decorated and prepared for the feast.

Theuns Van Den Berg, motivational speaker, opened proceedings with a short message of upliftment, with ‘Hakuna Matata’ as theme, followed by a table prayer by one of the community members. Lunch consisted of a ‘Christmas Braai’ - complete with a variety of salads, cold drinks, and even traditional Christmas Pudding.

After the meal everyone gathered round as Santa Clause made his appearance. It was priceless to see their faces light up as every person in the Rondevlei community received a present from Santa himself.

To end the day, Eden Lions were able to fulfil one of the community’s biggest desires. Each of the community members received a bible, with the little ones receiving children’s bibles.

We thank every one of the Eden Lions, for all the time and effort in bringing the joy of Christmas to the people from Rondevlei community. A special thanks to all the sponsors who contributed towards this fantastic event.
